Space: 1999 and Star Trek Model Kit News at Breakaway 2019

Hi, Everyone! Breakaway, a Space: 1999 convention, recently held its 2019 event in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania from September 12 to 15. Jamie Hood of Round 2 attended the convention via Skype and surprised fans with new model kit news! Space: 1999 news: The new-tooled 1:72 14-inch Eagle Transporter will be shipping in November / December 2019. A new 1:48 22-inch Eagle will be coming in early 2020.  This new version will be the Laboratory Eagle which features the outward-extended lab pod.  Jamie showed off an assembled mock up of this model to panel attendees. The spine booster unit which is usually associated with the Laboratory Eagle will be sold separately in order to keep costs for the Eagle kit itself down.  The spine booster unit will feature machined aluminum engine bells. Hi, Everyone! Many sci-fi fans remember the 1975 British-Italian television show Space: 1999 .  Some consider it a classic with high-at-the-time production values and thought-provoking story ideas while others find the episodes dragging with poor plots, bad acting, and lots of very questionable science. The show ran for two seasons, each one being very distinct from the other.  Season one featured often-explosive Commander John Koenig (played by Martin Landau), soft-spoken Doctor Helena Russell (Barbara Bain, who was Landau's wife at the time), science adviser Professor Victor Bergman (Barry Morse), and many other members of Moonbase Alpha.  Many of the first season episodes skewed toward the cerebral which made them seem long and drawn out to critics.  By season two, Star Trek: The Original Series third season producer Fred Freiberger had come onto the show, and made tweaks so that it became more action oriented in efforts to appeal to a wider audience.  B...

MPC / Round 2 1:72 Space: 1999 Eagle Transporter - New Tool

Hi, Everyone! Round 2 announced on their blog site that they are almost ready to replace their "classic"  Space: 1999  1:72 Eagle Transporter (which turns out to actually be 1:96 scale) with a brand new tooled replacement! At this time, they have a mock up in their hands.  Test shots of the upcoming kit will be arriving to Round 2 soon, and an assembled test shot will be showing at WonderFest 2019 which will run on June 1 and 2 in Louisville, Kentucky. Hi, Everyone! Godzilla is expected to have a big 2019 with the big-budget Warner Bros. release of Godzilla: King of the Monsters on May 31, 2019. This year of the Japanese kaiju will bring in no less than three model releases. However, a vehicle kit will also be re-released that ties in to the 1965 film  Invasion of Astro-Monster ...the Planetary Defense Vehicle Willys MB Jeep (kit number MPC882)!
