[In The Stash] MPC / Round 2 2018 1:72 Mark IX Hawk

Hi, Everyone! Many sci-fi fans remember the 1975 British-Italian television show Space: 1999 .  Some consider it a classic with high-at-the-time production values and thought-provoking story ideas while others find the episodes dragging with poor plots, bad acting, and lots of very questionable science. The show ran for two seasons, each one being very distinct from the other.  Season one featured often-explosive Commander John Koenig (played by Martin Landau), soft-spoken Doctor Helena Russell (Barbara Bain, who was Landau's wife at the time), science adviser Professor Victor Bergman (Barry Morse), and many other members of Moonbase Alpha.  Many of the first season episodes skewed toward the cerebral which made them seem long and drawn out to critics.  By season two, Star Trek: The Original Series third season producer Fred Freiberger had come onto the show, and made tweaks so that it became more action oriented in efforts to appeal to a wider audience.  By then, gone was the

Polar Lights / Round 2 1:2500 Star Trek: Discovery U.S.S. Enterprise

Image
Hi, Everyone! Round 2 recently informed retailers of their plans to release a 1:2500 U.S.S. Enterprise as she is seen in Star Trek: Discovery . No public information came out at that time.  However, at the 58th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2019 that just took place in Japan, Round 2 displayed a little, blink-and-you-miss-it presentation card announcing the new tool model to the world! The card only had a show-rendered image of the ship and listed the scale and the name.  It also claims a Summer 2019 release, but the kit would most likely ship late- to end-of-2019. From WonderFest 2018, Round 2 also mentioned that a 1:2500 Enterprise would be about 7.6 inches (19.304 cm) in length. More details should be coming in the weeks / months ahead. Check out the images below to see the presentation card to the right of the Polar Lights / Round 2 1:2500 U.S.S. Discovery display! Stay tuned... :)

58th Shizuoka Hobby Show - May 8 to 12, 2019 - Twin Messe Shizuoka, Shizuoka, Japan

Image
Hi, Everyone! The annual Shizuoka Hobby Show at the giant Twin Messe Shizuoka hall, arguably the biggest model kit and hobby event in the world which attracts more than 70,000 visitors every year, wrapped up its five-day, 58th iteration this past Sunday. Held in Shizuoka City (located halfway between Tokyo and Nagoya), about 88% of all plastic models manufactured in Japan come from there!  No less than ten major model kit companies are based there either historically (such as Tamiya and Hasegawa) or have moved there by choice (for example Bandai which moved from Tokyo for better exposure).   It is widely considered the plastic model kit capital of the world. Most people elsewhere in the world usually do not have the opportunity to attend the Shizuoka Hobby Show.  But luckily, there are always people or groups who share their experiences through media.  Tetra Model Works, a detail parts maker from South Korea, attended the show and is currently sharing over 900 imag

Current details are: 1:72 scale A little over 14 inches (35.56 cm) long when built Landing gear will NOT feature springs (like the larger 1:48 kit has), but will come with two sets of legs so that modelers can build the kit in "landed" or "flying" positions Dome base included $50.00 U.S.D. estimated MSRP Check out the images below that show the prototype mock up as well as comparisons with both the 1:48 model and the older 1:72 (errr...1:96) model.
