Star Trek: The Motion Picture 40th Anniversary Theatrical Showings - September 15 and 18, 2019

Hi, Everyone!

Back on December 7, 1979, Star Trek: The Motion Picture opened in theaters in North America.  Although it received only average reviews, at the time it...

  • ...set a box office record for highest weekend gross
  • ...was the fifth-highest-grossing film of 1979 in the United States
  • ...was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Art Direction (Harold Michelson, Joseph R. Jennings, Leon Harris, John Vallone and Linda DeScenna), Best Visual Effects, and Best Original Score

And since then it has sold the most tickets of any film in the franchise until Star Trek (2009), and it remains the highest-grossing film of the franchise worldwide adjusted for inflation.

2019 is the 40th anniversary year for The Motion Picture, and Fathom Events will be bringing the original theatrical version of the movie back for two days!

Dates:
  • Sunday, September 15, 2019
  • Wednesday, September 18, 2019

Ticket On-Sale date:
  • Beginning Friday, August 2, 2019

Check for participating theaters:

Preceding the showing of the film will be the 2009 short The Longest Trek: Writing the Motion Picture featuring Walter Koenig, Harold Livingston, Jon Povill, Garfield Reeves-Stevens, and Judith Reeves-Stevens.

This will be the big chance to see the entire original crew from Kirk to Rand back together!  And who wouldn't want to see Scotty tour Kirk around the gorgeous Enterprise refit on the big screen while a spectacular Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack plays in the background?!?

The human adventure is just beginning.  Out there...thataway!

:)
