Roof Panel Lines Decal / Mask For The Polar Lights 1:32 TOS Galileo Shuttlecraft Model Kit

Hi, Everyone!

I started a project to make a decal / mask for the Polar Lights / Round 2 1:32 TOS Galileo shuttlecraft model kit.

As per Star Trek historian and filming miniature information archivist extraordinaire Gary Kerr (https://modelermagic.com/gary-kerrs-12-studio-scale-11-star-trek-shuttlecraft-for-the-polar-lights-kit/)...

The coolest feature was discovered almost too late.  Doug Drexler and aerospace historian and writer, Glen Swanson, have been sleuthing through various archives in Los Angeles, and we've all been chipping in to get 600 dpi scans made.  They discovered several hi-res photographs of the newly-built 22-incher, and I saw something completely unexpected on the miniature's roof: scribed panels that were very similar to the panels that Thomas Kellogg had drawn on his concept illustration during the 1966 design process.  This discovery came late in the pre-production process, after a smooth roof had already been tooled, but Polar Lights will supply a template so enterprising modelers can create their own panels, if desired.

Round 2 proceeded to provide a template within the assembly instructions to use as a guide for the modeler to create the detail him- / herself.

With my release, one can use it to print a large decal.  After laying down the decal on an unassembled kit and allowing it to set and dry, it can be also be used as a guide to carefully scribe in the panel lines.  Also, since a vector graphics editor was used to create this image in Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format, it can be used with various cutting tools to make a paint mask.

I have produced one US Letter sized page for a decal / mask.  See the JPEG preview and test fit images below.

My release includes a detailed read-me text file, the Polar Lights / Round 2  1:32 TOS Galileo shuttlecraft model kit assembly instructions Adobe Acrobat PDF file, two reference images, and one SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) file.

If anyone is interested in this release, just let me know and I'll provide a link to a share folder via private messaging or email.  I'm not charging any money for the release.  All I ask from those who want it is that they do not turn around and sell the file or sell a decal and / or mask sheet made from the file.

Happy modeling!

:)
