Star Wars: Episode IX Poe Dameron's T-70 X-wing On Loan To The Smithsonian

Hi, Everyone!

On May 4th, the Smithsonian announced (https://airandspace.si.edu/newsroom/press-releases/national-air-and-space-museum-welcomes-star-wars-x-wing-starfighter) that it has the full-size mockup of Poe Dameron's Resistance T-70 X-wing starfighter.  It is currently in its orange and light grey livery as seen in Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker.

The full-sized vehicle, with a wingspan of 37 feet, is on long-term loan from Lucasfilm.  It will undergo conservation in the Restoration Hangar at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.  The work is currently visible to the public.  The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is located in Chantilly, Virginia, near Washington Dulles International Airport.  It is open daily (except on Christmas Day, December 25) from 10 AM until 5:30 PM.  Admission is free, but there is a $15.00 fee for parking.

Once the conservation process is completed, the X-wing starfighter will be displayed outside the Albert Einstein Planetarium in 2022 when the current $250-million revitalization and transformation project of the National Air and Space Museum itself is finished and re-opened for visitors.

Stay tuned...
